Three men have today been found guilty of stirring up hatred on the grounds of sexual orientation after handing out anti-homosexual leaflets.

Though I deplore what these men have done I do believe that this case bring up serious serious questions in regards to the erosion of freedom of speech which might eventually have consuences upon us all.

Of course some people will no doubt say of this that it is a typical fucking Muslims (or something similar) to which my response is my response is typical fucking religion.

Let us not forget that there are Christians and Jews that detest homosexuals just as much as Muslims. In the main people use religion to justify their own prejudices.

Of course there are many Conservative Christians who detest homosexuals who will be voting in the GOP (Republican) primary in South Carolina this weekend. Remember that there have been candidates involved in the 2012 GOP presidential race who have been involved in quack clinics that claim to help cure homosexuals of being homosexual.

This weekend there is a ‘gay cure’ conference not in the US Bible Belt but in Belfast.

Sadly Northern Ireland has a long sad history proving it’s the least enlightened of regions in the UK & we are all aware of the god fearing fire & brimstone rhetoric of the likes of Ian Paisley. Yes Paisly might have retired & there’s now relative peace in Northern Ireland but the god fearing fire & brimstone rhetoric hasn’t ceased & a good deal is now directed at LGBT community.

Geoffrey Donaldson MP & other Democratic Unionist Party bigwigs have not had to nice things to say about the LGBT community & well I’m wondering if Geoffrey & chums will be in attendance at this weekends ‘gay cure’ conference because after all they are a backwards bunch of homophobic troglodytes!

The funny thing is there’d be an outcry led by the likes of Donaldson if a bunch of us Atheists rolled into Belfast & held a conference on curing Christians of being Christians despite that if there is one place in UK that it would be a good thing to eradicate Christianity it would be Northern Ireland & despite the fact that people choose be Christians unlike homosexuals who don’t choose top be homosexuals.

If there was a conference in Belfast or in the US Bible Belt on curing Blacks of their Blackness there would be very loud and utterly understandable outcry. Yet some still think its okay to hold conferences on curing homosexuals.

I know some will say that those holding conferences on curing gay people are a minority however I point out that this weekend is the GOP South Carolina primary. The reason that the all the GOP candidates oppose gay marriage is very much to do with the influence of Christian fundamentalists and we all know about their homophobic rhetoric.
