So yet again the England football team have exited from a major championships & now the the nation’s hopes for sporting hopes now fall upon Andrew Murray.

England lose a football match, Andy Murray will lose a tennis match soon enough. Shit weather, shit sporting performances, its your typical British summer ha ha.

Britain might not have the greatest of weather & these days might not have the greatest sportsmen in the world, but we like to pride ourselves on having far better regulations governing working conditions then elsewhere in the developing world & yet for the next two weeks child labour will be on display at the Wimbledon tennis championships.

You’d think pampered multi-millionaire tennis players are pretty capable of picking up their own tennis balls & serving themselves their own drinks rather then getting some school kid whose been pressurized into doing it for them.

I guess you can’t call the ball girls & boys at Wimbledon ‘slave’ labour because I guess ultimately no school kid whose asked to be used to be an unpaid skivvy for pampered tennis players is forced into doing so, but I’d reckon they’d of been an awful lot of encouragement from adults for them to participate to be an unpaid skivvy as well as peer pressure from fellow kids who’ve chosen to be used unpaid skivvies for pampered tennis players. I’d reckon any school kid whose asked to be an unpaid skivvy for pampered & wealthy tennis players aren’t told that they’re being asked to be an unpaid skivvy for pampered & wealthy tennis players; rather it will be dressed up as an opportunity to be part of some prestigious event etc.

We like to be snooty that we’ve abolished on the whole the use of child labour in this country & yet there it is being broadcasted live on BBC television from Wimbledon for the next two weeks. Of course Wimbledon is always talked up as the most prestigious or prestigious of tennis tournaments, but it should be remembered that its also an event on the social calendar of upper class toffs! Last week was Royal Ascot, I’m sure the Henley Regatta has been around for another year, oh & of the there’s been the Jubilee this year; the 2012 social calendar must be a really exhausting year for Toffs, because small talk, scoffing canopies & swigging Pimms must be really exhausting!

Of course not everybody attending Wimbledon is an upper class toff but those attending will be watching tennis matches happening with the aid of unpaid child labour. Yes all you attending Wimbledon this next fortnight will be scoffing strawberries & cream & whilst watching the use of unpaid child labour.

As far as I’m concerned tennis in this country is a sport played by snobby White people run by snobby White people; just ask yourself when there have been so many great Black professional athletes from this country why it is there aren’t any prominent Black British tennis players?
