Afghanistan -  The ministry of Illegal Wars has announced the death of the 11^th British serviceman, this year, whilst being used as mercenary's for US Oil companies.

A soldier from 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment was killed in Afghanistan today, Wednesday 9 March 2011.

The soldier was deployed on an operation to disrupt insurgent activity in the Nad 'Ali district of Helmand province.

Next of kin have been informed.

The latest death takes the number of British service personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001 to 359, and the 11^th  this year.

Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel David Eastman, said:

"It is my sad duty to announce the loss of a soldier from 1st Battalion The Royal Irish Regiment this afternoon. The soldier was participating in an operation to disrupt insurgent activity in the Nad 'Ali North area of Helmand province when his vehicle struck an improvised explosive device.

"The soldier gave his life pursuing peace and stability for a people that had been dominated by insurgent subjugation, threats and intimidation. We vow to carry on his vital work in the face of such cowardly and indiscriminate attacks.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his friends and family at this deeply sad time."
