Afghanistan - The ministry of Illegal Wars has announced the death of another British serviceman whilst being used as mercenary for US Oil companies.

The Marine from 40 Commando Royal Marines died from wounds sustained in Afghanistan at the Royal Centre for Defence Medicine, Selly Oak, yesterday, Monday 14 June 2010.

The Marine, part of Combined Force Sangin, died as a result of injuries sustained during an exchange of fire with insurgent forces in the Sangin district of Helmand province on the afternoon of Sunday 13 June 2010.

The soldier's next of kin have been informed.

The latest death takes the number of British service personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001 to 296, and the 51^st this year.

Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel James Carr-Smith, said yesterday:

"It is with great sadness I must inform you that a Marine from 40 Commando Royal Marines died this afternoon in Selly Oak Hospital from wounds he sustained during a firefight yesterday in Sangin, Helmand province.
 
"He was part of a foot patrol that was providing local security whilst engineering improvements were being made to a patrol base in Sangin district when the incident happened.
 
"His courage and sacrifice will not be forgotten. We will remember him."
