Afghanistan -  The ministry of Illegal Wars has announced the death of another British serviceman whilst being used as mercenary's for US Oil companies.

The marine from 40 Commando Royal Marines was killed in Afghanistan, yesterday, Friday 16 July 2010.

The marine, serving as part of Combined Force Sangin, was killed in an explosion while on foot patrol in the Sangin District of Helmand Province.

Next of kin have been informed.

The latest deaths takes the number of British service personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001 to 319, and the 74th this year.

Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel James Carr-Smith, said:

"It is with great sadness I must inform you that a marine from 40 Commando Royal Marines was killed in Sangin on Friday evening. He was on a joint foot patrol with his fellow marines and members of the United States Marine Corps, which was supported by the Afghan National Army, when he was struck by an explosion.

"He died seeking to protect and reassure the local population in and around Sangin. He will be greatly missed by his many friends and his actions will not be forgotten.”

"He was a brave and courageous marine who made the ultimate sacrifice. He will be greatly missed and his actions will not be forgotten.

"We will remember him."
