Afghanistan - The ministry of Illegal Wars has announced the death of another British serviceman whilst being used as mercenary for US Oil companies.

The soldier from the Gurkha Reinforcement Company, 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Cheshire) [1 MERCIAN], died yesterday of wounds sustained in Afghanistan.

The soldier was wounded in a helicopter incident whilst in a patrol base in the Nahr-e Saraj district of Helmand province on Tuesday 10 August 2010. He was treated at the scene and at Camp Bastion, before being flown to the UK for further treatment.

He died on Thursday 12 August 2010 with his family in attendance at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

The latest death takes the number of British service personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001 to 329, and the 83^rd this year.

Officer Commanding the Rear Operations Group, 1 MERCIAN, Major Ronnie Goodwin, said:

"He gave his life trying to improve the lives of people in Helmand by providing much needed reassurance and security.

"Our thoughts are with his family and close friends at this difficult time. He will be missed and remembered by all ranks of the 1st Battalion The Mercian Regiment (Cheshire)."
