Afghanistan - The ministry of Illegal Wars has announced the death of another British serviceman whilst being used as mercenary for US Oil companies.
The soldier from the 2nd Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, died at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham on 10 September 2010 as a result of injuries sustained in Afghanistan.
The soldier, serving as part of Combined Force Nahr-e Saraj (South), died from the injuries sustained from a gunshot wound in the Nahr-e Saraj District of Helmand Province on the morning of 23 August 2010.
Next of kin have been informed.
The latest death takes the number of British service personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001 to 335, and the 89th this year.
Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel James Carr-Smith, said:
"It is with great sadness I must inform you that a soldier died of his wounds yesterday at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham.
"He was from the 2nd Battalion, The Duke of Lancaster's Regiment, serving as part of the 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles Battle Group.
"The soldier was conducting interdiction and disrupt operations in southern Nahr-e Saraj when he was struck by small arms fire on 23 August 2010.
"His bravery and commitment in the face of danger will never be forgotten. We will remember him."
