Afghanistan - The ministry of Illegal Wars has announced the death of another British serviceman whilst being used as mercenary's for US Oil companies.

A soldier  from 1st Battalion Irish Guards serving with Combined Force Nahr-e Saraj (North) was killed in Afghanistan on Wednesday 17th November 2010.

The soldier died as a result of a gun shot wound sustained in an ambush whilst patrolling in the Nahr-e Saraj (North) district of Helmand Province.

Next of kin have been informed.

The latest death takes the number of British service personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001 to 345, and the 99^th this year.

Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel David Eastman, said:

"Regrettably I must report the loss of a soldier from 1st Battalion Irish Guards this afternoon. The soldier was carrying out vital work mentoring an Afghan National Army patrol, in order to develop their ability to protect the people of Nahr-e Saraj (North), when he was struck by small arms fire.

"In carrying out this crucial role he gave his life so that others might hope for a better future. Our thoughts are very much with his family and friends at this deeply sad time."
