UK - Sharon Shoesmith, 55, the former director of children's services at Haringey council, who famously said that she said how hard it is to stop people bent on killing, is to appeal her sacking on the grounds that she was unlawfully dismissed.

What does Shoesmith who was on £100,000-00 a year think that she was paid all that for? It was to take responsibility for the actions of the staff below her. That's what. The buck stops at the TOP.

When the staff below her failed then her position at the top became untenable.

This failure of people at the top in this country is one of the serious things wrong with the country. instead of a meritocracy we now have incompetence being rewarded.

Worse still it is not just government which is like this, British industry, such that is left is riddled with directors who are are hugely rewarded, no matter how badly the companies perform.

There is an unwritten rule, the greater your salary, the greater the risks that come with that salary.

Baby Peter Connelly lest we forget.

Baby Peter Connelly was seen by 28 different social workers, doctors and police officers before he was beaten to death. Peter Connolly was taken to hospital nine times, the last occasion coming two days before his death, when his spine had been broken but doctors failed to spot that he had been paralysed because he was "quite miserable and crying" and so, they said, it was not possible to make a "full examination".

The Bastard says:

How many more children before people take responsibility?
