Afghanistan - The ministry of Illegal Wars has announced the death of the 17^th British serviceman, this year, whilst being used as mercenary's for US Oil companies.

The Royal Marine from 42 Commando Royal Marines was killed in Afghanistan on Sunday 15 May 2011.

The marine was killed by an Improvised Explosive Device while involved in an operation to search a compound in the Loy Mandeh Wadi area of the Nad-e Ali (North) District of Helmand Province.

Next of kin have been informed.

The latest death takes the number of British service personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001 to 365, and the 17^th  this year.

Spokesman for Task Force Helmand, Lieutenant Colonel Tim Purbrick, said:

"It is with great sadness that I have to announce the death of a Royal Marine from 42 Commando Royal Marines.

"The Royal Marine was involved in an operation which was investigating suspected insurgent activity in a number of compounds in the Loy Mandeh Wadi area of the Nad-e Ali district in Helmand Province when he was fatally injured by an Improvised Explosive Device early this morning.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends."
