Afghanistan - Another British soldier has been killed in southern Afghanistan, the Ministry of Illegal Wars said.

The soldier, from 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards, attached to 1st Battalion Welsh Guards was killed whilst on a patrol in Nad e Ali District, central Helmand Province, died on Wednesday.

The latest death takes the number of British service personnel who have died in Afghanistan since the start of operations in October 2001 to 188^th, and the 51^st this year, and 19^th this month.

Lieutenant Colonel Nick Richardson, spokesman for Task Force Helmand, said: "We share in the pain that is felt by his family, friends and colleagues at the loss of this courageous soldier; our thoughts and prayers are with them."
