USA - It seems that Barack Obama has been reading his history books and read all about Franklin Delano Roosevelt's New Deal for the unemployed during the great depression.

Having read about the new deal, and thinking that it is a good idea, wants to implement a new deal of his own. To this end he is planning a $50 billion program to revamp US transport infrastructure in a bid to kickstart the country's ailing economy ahead of forthcoming mid-term congressional elections.

Two US soldiers killed in Iraq  
Iraq - Just a week after the end of the US combat mission in Iraq, two American soldiers have been killed in northern Iraq, says a US army spokesman.

"There was an incident that resulted in casualties to US forces," Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Allen told AFP on Tuesday.
