Whether Lemmy was sacked by Hawkwind for 'Doing The Wrong Drugs" ofr because he wrote a hit record, it does not matter because personally I think it's a good thing he was. Personally I think Hawkwind were (& still are) prog-rock shite & because Lemmy was sacked Lemmy went onto form Motorhead. For me Originally Lemmy had wanted to call Motorhead 'Bastard' but whatever Lemmy had the stated aim of on playing basic rock 'n' rock but playing real fucking fast & real fucking loud & have done so now for over 30 years.

Motorhead are often cited as the pioneers & the major influence upon speed-metal & thrash-metal, senior editor for Allmusic, Stephen Erlewine, wrote of Motorhead "Motörhead wasn't punk rock ... they were the first metal band to harness that energy and, in the process, they created speed metal and thrash metal". In fact Lemmy has stated that he generally feels more kinship with punk rockers than with metal bands & as somebody who's definitely a punk rocker I can say that Motorhead have always that punk 'fuck you we place rock & roll in your motherfucking face" attitude about them & yeah like all great punk bands they play fast & loud but do it in three minute blasts. Plus like all great bands they sell better live then they do on Vinyl, CD or MP3.

Lemmy probably summed up Motorhead best when he said that "I'm playing Rock n' Roll & I think Rock n' Roll should be sacred - it is to me. I don't see why it should not be for everybody else", yeah Motorhead are just that a great fucking rock & roll band, Motorhead are the ultimate antidote to the rock & roll which is pretentious & overblown, to me Motorhead are almost the ultimate anti-bullshit rock & rock band (Iggy & The Stooges in my opinion top that chart.

So I guess you're be wanting examples of why they're so fucking great. Well I guess we better start with that song yeah the one about gambling, but there's more to Motorhead then Ace Of Spaces, such as Rock & Roll, We Are The Road Crew, Built for Speed, to mention but a few of their best anthems.

Though they basic rock & roll thorough doing so they're not just another metal band they're a a rock & roll band that punk rockers like me totally appreciate Motorhead & I totally appreciate Lemmy, I mean for starters you can't help admiring Lemmy the guy is in now in his 60s & he still lives the rock & roll lifestyle full on! Along with Iggy Pop Lemmy has done sex, drugs & rock & roll to the fucking max but unlike Iggy Pop who's now advertising insurance & playing golf Lemmy is still doing the rock & roll thing full on & will be probably the day he dies.
