Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Centre: Dumps patients on Skid Row
|
USA - The state of medical care for the homeless was dramatically revealed today, when a hospital van dumped a homeless paraplegic man on the street, wearing a soiled hospital gown and a burst colostomy bag.
Witnesses to the incident, recorded the registration and a phone number off the side of the hospital van, which the police traced to the prestigious Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Centre.
Kaylor Shemberger, the hospital's executive vice president, told the Bastard the incident was under investigation.
"Obviously we are very concerned about the information that has been presented to us," Shemberger said. "If some of the facts are correct, it is clearly not in line with our policy of handling these types of patients."
“Normally we dump them, when there are no witnesses. I am utterly appalled that such sloppy practice has been allowed to develop”
“Now let me re-assure our fee paying patients, that there is no chance of having any homeless patients in the same building. Please don’t worry yourselves about that.”
This is not the first time that the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Centre has been accused of dumping homeless people on skid row. In 2005 they were accused of homeless dumping, and officially denied that they were dumping homeless people in skid row.
A top executive from the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical centre did say that skid row does have some excellent facilities for homeless people.
This case comes three months after a 63 year old man was filmed wandering round Skid Row in a hospital gown and socks, after being dumped there by staff from the Bellflower Medical Centre.
The LA Attorneys office has filed charges against the Kaiser Permanente for this incident.
